The Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County is bringing a special guest to talk about the county’s rich barn heritage this Sunday. Dr. Randy Miles, a native of Montgomery County and former professor at the University of Missouri, will present his discussion titled: Heritage Barns of Montgomery County and West Central Indiana: Cultural History and Role of the Indiana Barn Foundation on April 26 starting at 2 p.m. A soil scientist and current barn assessor, Dr. Miles currently resides in Waynetown as part of his retirement from professorship. He is also a current board member of the Indiana Barn Foundation. Light refreshments will be served at the talk.
According to a release, the presentation is held in conjunction with the museum’s local history exhibit called Montgomery County Then & Now: Centennial Farms & Heritage Barns. It highlights county agriculturists who helped shape the region into the dynamic farming community it is today. It’ll run through Oct. 31.
Both the talk featuring Dr. Miles and the exhibit is free and open to the public.
