The Crawfordsville Fire Department added a new firefighter on Wednesday. Daniel Rose, of Colfax, took his oath of office after the board of public works and safety meeting in the City Building.

Rose became a firefighter four years ago as a volunteer for Perry Township in Clinton County. His father-in-law is the department’s chief and he got his son interested in firefighting.

While there, Rose said he realized he wanted to make a career out of helping people.

“I love being a firefighter,” Rose said. “Ever since I met my father-in-law, this is the dream I wanted and I am achieving it now.” Rose has graduated from Lafayette’s Central Fire Academy and earned his EMT license in Clinton County.

“For someone having their worst day, I want to be there to help them and try to make it a better day,” Rose said. “I am here to help people and I look forward to doing that for his community.”

Rose said he’s enjoyed meeting his new colleagues.

He begins working the “C” shift May 25. Rose is married to Taylor Rose and has a 2-year-old daughter, Aubrey.

Crawfordsville Fire Chief Scott Busenbark said he was pleased to have Rose added to the roster.

The search to fill more vacancies on the department is underway.
